Talk About Aging grew from both professional experience and family experience.
Janice Goldmintz has spent more than 16 years working with older adults and families. She also supported both of her parents through Alzheimer’s disease and saw first-hand how quickly family roles, decisions, and responsibilities can change.
Those experiences shaped a simple belief:
Families should not have to wait for a crisis before they begin talking, planning, and preparing

Janice holds a Master of Science in Gerontology and brings a deep understanding of aging, family dynamics, changing care needs, housing, communication, and decision-making.
But knowledge alone is not enough.
Her work is grounded in the reality that these conversations can be emotional, complicated, and deeply personal. She helps people make sense of what is happening without judgment, pressure, or the expectation that there is one perfect answer
practical information that people can actually use
a calm, thoughtful approach to difficult subjects
respect for different family perspectives
the ability to make complex issues easier to understand
personal experience alongside professional expertise
a focus on preparation, not fear
In this brief video, Janice shares the experiences and beliefs that shaped Talk About Aging—and why earlier conversations and preparation can make such a difference.
Janice’s earliest understanding of aging was shaped by seeing her grandmother enter a nursing home at only 68 and watching the effect that experience had on her quality of life.
Years later, supporting her own parents through Alzheimer’s disease reinforced how important it is for families to talk earlier, understand the choices ahead, and make decisions with as much clarity and dignity as possible.
Talk About Aging exists to help families, working adults, and organizations prepare before aging-parent changes take over the conversation.
Janice does not tell families what they “should” do.
She helps people ask better questions, understand their options, and take practical next steps that fit their circumstances.
Her approach is warm, direct, and grounded in the belief that even small steps can make a meaningful difference.
